The Town Hall: New York Loves Sly! Featuring Steven BernsteinOn Saturday, August 30 at 7 PM, Bryant Park hosts a powerful tribute to a music icon with The Town Hall: New York Loves Sly! Featuring Steven Bernstein. This live performance honors the music and legacy of Sly & The Family Stone, reimagined by Steven Bernstein’s Millennial Territory Orchestra and joined by special guests Vernon Reid, Corey Glover, and Joan As Police Woman.
Blending psychedelic funk, soul, R&B, and jazz, Bernstein’s ensemble breathes new life into timeless tracks like “Family Affair,” “Everyday People,” and “M’Lady.” The arrangements reflect Sly Stone’s boundary-breaking style, while channeling the bold, creative spirit of New York City’s downtown scene.
Presented by The Town Hall as part of Bryant Park’s free Picnic Performances series, this concert showcases the artistic depth and cultural influence of one of the most important figures in American music history.
